How to Make the Winter Tree Cotton Ball Craft
What you need:
- printable template (optional)
- light blue construction paper
- black marker
- cotton balls or cotton pads
- white marker (chalk or acrylic)
Step by Step Tutorial
Start with a piece of light blue construction paper.
This will be the sky behind your snowy tree.
Have kids use a marker to draw a simple tree shape in the middle of the paper. Alternatively, you can also print out one of our many tree templates you can find at the end of this tutorial.
Once the tree shape is drawn, color it in with the black marker.
Grab some cotton balls or cotton pads and have kids tear them into small pieces—these will be used to make the snow!
Start by gluing a layer of cotton at the bottom of the tree to create the snowy ground.
Don’t forget to cover the edges for a nice, fluffy look!
Next, have kids add more cotton pieces to the tree branches.
Layer them gently, making sure they look like soft snowflakes resting on the tree.
Grab a white marker and have kids use it to make dots all over the blue paper.
Tip: Snowflakes can also be made by dabbing paint on with a Q-tip or even fingertips.
These dots will look like falling snowflakes floating in the winter sky.
Once everything is glued down and the snowflakes are added, you’re finished!
Let it dry and then admire your beautiful winter tree cotton ball craft.
